The Friends of Laurel Hill Cemetery fittingly host a number of Halloween events guaranteed to get you spooked and smiling this Halloween. Proceeds from these events will directly support the work of the Friends of Laurel Hill Cemetery, a nonprofit organization founded to preserve interpret historic Laurel Hill.
Gravediggers’ Ball
The fifth annual Gravediggers’ Ball takes place this year on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Crystal Tea Room at the Wanamaker Building in Center City. This event will include entertainment provided by Jellyroll, dinner, dancing, and silent and live auctions. Black tie or costume is requested.This year’s ball will be hosted in memory of the late, great Harry Kalas, as his final resting place is within his hometown Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Dialogue of the Dead: A Paranormal Exploration of Laurel Hill Cemetery
On Saturday, Oct. 3, join the Friends of Laurel Hill Cemetery and South Jersey Ghost Research as they uncover their recent investigations of Laurel Hill and its paranormal activity and learn about the techniques of ghost hunting.
Cost is $30 per person and $25 for members, advance reservations are requested. Event begins at 6 p.m.
Sinners, Scandals and Suicides
Laurel Hills boasts many heroes laid to rest in its cemetery, but on Sunday, Oct. 11, you can take a walk through the sordid and sinful side of this burial ground with a guided tour that starts at 2 p.m. and visits the graves of Philadelphia’s most scandalous departed.
Tickets are $15 per person, $12 for members and $8 for students.
Halloween Flashlight Tours
Bring a flashlight and comfortable shoes as you take a tour of the Laurel Hill Cemetery and encounter its most restless spirits (as portrayed by actors) while guides lead you along winding, dimly-lit pathways and through forests of gravestones and sculptures and you can learn the history of this spooky site.
Tickets are $20 per person, $15 for members and students.
