Summer is finally in full swing and with how the weather has been lately, there’s a good chance you’ve wanted to do something outside.
Sports are always a fun summertime activity to get involved in, so why not try a new one with all of the extra time on your hands?
If you’re a fan of golf or have always enjoyed throwing a Frisbee around, you might enjoy the sport the evolved from the merging of the two—Frolf!
Sedgley Woods is the Disc Golf Club that resides in Fairmount Park where different events take place each month. The club was started in 1976 by Jim Powers and was originally just a Frisbee club. They were involved with all types of Frisbee sports, but disc golf became one of the favorites.
So what exactly is Frolf?
Well, it’s basically a combination of Frisbee and golf. There are nets designated as the holes you would have in golf and the Frisbee takes the place of the golf ball. A more detailed description can be found on the Sedgely Woods website, but they suggest that you go out and catch a game to actually see the sport yourself.
If you’re new to the sport or just want to check it out, the Sedgley Woods website boasts that someone on their Board of Directors or a member would be more than willingly to show you the course.
Every Tuesday night during the summer they have a doubles tournament that take places two hours before sunset. Keep your Saturdays open at the end of each month to catch a singles tournament.
The Sedgley Woods message board also has a more updated schedule of events for when games are taking place.
