There’s nothing nicer than whiling away a summer afternoon in one of Philly’s many parks.
In the coming months, the Fairmount Park commission is celebrating the season with Waterfront Wednesdays, a free concert series in beautiful Penn Treaty Park.
Although it is often overlooked by Philadelphians, Penn Treaty Park is a pretty little space located just off Delaware Avenue in Fishtown.
The park is becoming a focal point these days, though, as it hosts free concerts on Wednesday evenings until Aug. 19.
With a diverse body of artists headlining each concert night, the park’s Waterfront Wednesdays are a great way to kick back at the end of a long day.
Latin, jazz, blues and folk music nights promise something for music-lovers of all ages and backgrounds; local bands will be highlighted at each show.
Each concert lasts from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesdays, and the park is also running contests and raffles for attendees. These include a current raffle for gourmet picnic baskets, baskets which are available for delivery on concert nights.
Penn Treaty Park is SEPTA accessible, with EL and trolley stops close by, and it’s a short walk from Delaware Avenue.
So keep a Wednesday evening free this summer and spend a relaxing few hours on the waterfront at Penn Treaty Park.
