FROM THE EDITOR'S
DESK
FOR
THE RECORD: Where's the love?
Why is it that now it seems to be a trend to hate everything about Valentine's
Day? Not that I don't absolutely loathe it--significant other or not,
the day is way too overrated and commerciaized for my liking--but now,
everyone is on the Valentine's hating band wagon. Ah, where's the love
people?
So instead of gushing over your significant other or taking on a somewhat
Scrooge-like persona about the day, why not take the idea of the holiday--compassion
and love--and turn it into something for the community. Maybe go out and
volunteer at a local soup kitchen or clean out your closet and donate
items to a good cause. Perhaps call up the local animal shelter and see
if you can help out. Everyone deserves to be shown love on the holiday
and what better place to do so then right here in Philadelphia.
P.S. Deadlines for the Reader's Choice categories will be Friday,
February 29, 2008.
